Insight into the Narrow Structure in η Photoproduction on the Neutron from Helicity-Dependent Cross Sections.

The double polarization observable E and the helicity dependent cross sections σ_{1/2} and σ_{3/2} were measured for η photoproduction from quasifree protons and neutrons. The circularly polarized tagged photon beam of the A2 experiment at the Mainz MAMI accelerator was used in combination with a longitudinally polarized deuterated butanol target. The almost 4π detector setup of the Crystal Bal...

Based on a prior model on double pion photoproduction on the proton, successfully tested in total cross sections and invariant mass distributions, we make a theoretical study of the angular dependence of helicity asymmetries from the interaction of circularly polarized photons with unpolarized protons. We show that this observable is sensitive to details of the internal mechanisms and, thus, re...

N ov 2 00 1 Phenomenological analysis of experimental data on η - photoproduction on protons ∗

The results of linear regresion of differential cross sections, Σ-and T-asymmetries of η-photoproduction on protons in energy region from threshold up to 1 GeV are presented. Serious contradictions between angular distributions measured in different laboratories are revealed. The energy dependance of regression coefficients may be due to transition from energy region of S 11 During the past yea...

Photoproduction of η mesons off neutrons from a deuteron target

A formalism is developed for the partial wave analysis of data on meson photoproduction off deuterons and applied to photoproduction of η and π 0 mesons. Different interpretations of a dip-bump structure of the η photoproduction cross section in the 1670 MeV region are presented and discussed. Helicity amplitudes for two low-mass S11 states are determined.

Photoproduction of Eta and Etaprime Mesons on the Nucleon

The isobar models η-MAID and η-MAID have been used to analyze new data on quasifree η photoproduction on the deuteron from Bonn and recent η data on the proton from Jlab. In η photoproduction on the neutron a bump around W = 1700 MeV was observed which could possibly arise from a narrow P11 state that is discussed as a nonstrange member of the Θ antidecuplett. In η photoproduction on the proton...
